Tobias Jesso Jr. is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician, born on 11 July 1985, in North Vancouver, British Columbia. He gained recognition in the music industry with his debut album Goon, released in 2015. The album received critical acclaim for its heartfelt and soulful songwriting, reminiscent of classic pop and piano ballads. Tobias’s honest and emotive lyrics, accompanied by his piano-driven melodies, struck a chord with listeners around the world. Over the years, he has collaborated with various artists and continued to build a reputation as a talented singer-songwriter with a unique style that resonates with fans of all ages.
In 2023 he won the ‘Songwriter Of The Year’ award in the inaugural year for this award.
Co-lead vocalist and guitarist in the two excellent US rock bands blink-182 and Angels and Airwaves. A native of California, growing up in a world of skateboarding and punk rock songs. blink-182 peaked in 1999 with their Enema Of The State album that sold 15 million albums. There are 10 blink-182 albums and 7 Angels and Airwaves albums to pick from as well as a side art project called Box Car Racer.
Illinois raised, Atlanta based Christopher ‘Tricky’ Stewart has always been deep in the mix of scouting, producing and writing for talent. He made a big impact on artists like Blu Cantrell, Sole, JT Money and Mya. By 2002 he had written the debut single for B2K Uh Oh, which was a Number 1 US single for 10 weeks and also the hit track Me Against The Music for Britney Spears. By 2007, Tricky had written Umbrella for Rihanna, a song that topped the chart in May of that year and stayed there for 7 weeks. The Song broke sales records at iTunes and claimed two Grammy nominations for Record Of The Year and Best Rap/Song collaboration. In the same year, he received another Grammy nomination for Mary J Blige for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance on Just Fine. More Grammy recognition arrived for Stewart with Blige for his work on her album Growing Pain, when he won the award for Best Contemporary R&B album. Hits kept a coming for Stewart with Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey. His song Touch My Body for Carey hit the Number 1 spot in 2008.
Alongside this, he crafted one of the ultimate female empowerment anthems with Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) for Beyoncé, which Rolling Stone declared as “the Song” of 2008. The song won three Grammys including Song Of The Year, and stayed at Number 1 in the US for 4 weeks. Tricky also helped kick-start Justin Bieber’s rise to fame, writing the track Baby featuring Ludacris; the song became a global success for Bieber as the lead single from his debut album.
Trivium are key exponents of the metal community, blending all elements of thrash, alternative and groove metal. Formed in Florida in 1999 the band, fronted by Matt Heafy, earnt their stripes through touring and being major road warriors.
The band grew and grew and by the time they released In Waves (2011) as well as the David Draiman (from Disturbed) produced Vengeance Falls album in 2013, the band were even more melodic. They were ultimately Grammy nominated for their song Betrayer from the 2017 Josh Wilbur produced album Sin And The Sentence.
Rådström created the Neiked Collective as an outlet for his songwriting work. He had been writing songs with his childhood friend Miriam Bryant, and the song Sexual, heavily influenced by Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing, became a global hit, peaking Top 5 on the UK singles chart. He also contributed to the billion streaming song What Lovers Do (feat. SZA) for Maroon 5.
Afanasieff began his music career as a jazz musician and worked with producer songwriter and drummer Narada Michael Walden. Learning his craft working with Whitney Houston on her debut album, his first major production was writing the track for the James Bond movie Licence To Kill, for Gladys Knight.
He won the 1999 Grammy Award in the Record Of The Year category for producing My Heart Will Go On for Celine Dion for the film Titanic, which became the best-selling single of 1998. Further movie work includes the Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson title track duet for Disney’s Beauty And The Beast, and Go The Distance, the Oscar-nominated Michael Bolton song for the animated film Hercules. He also won the Grammy for Producer Of The Year, Non Classical in 2000.
However, a key part of his career was working throughout the 90’s with Mariah Carey. Key songs included the Number 1 Billboard Hot 100 song Hero, One Sweet Day with Boyz II Men which held the run for the longest run at Number 1 on the Billboard Charts for 23 years, at 16 weeks. This song was nominated for Record Of The Year and Best Pop Collaboration with vocals at the 1996 Grammy Awards. On top of this, Afanasieff wrote and produced the worldwide evergreen hit All I Want For Christmas Is You, which now has global sales well in excess of 15 million copies.
Wayne Wilkins is a total music professional. South London of origin, he was playing piano by the age of 4, attended the Royal College of Music, and then further studied engineering, mixing and producing at both Townhouse and Olympic Studios, where he worked closely with the legendary engineer Spike Stent. Alongside Stent, Wilkins was able to be around great studio masters like Timbaland and Rodney Jerkins as well as bands like Oasis and No Doubt.
At the turn of the millennium, Wilkins ventured out further on his own, at first with Irish band the Corrs and then helping to develop the artist Natasha Bedingfield. Chart success arrived with their song Single, before then achieving a Number 1 single with the These Words, which was co-written and co-produced by Wilkins. Subsequent hits such as Love Like This helped take Bedingfield into the American market.
Wilkins then wrote T-Shirt for Shontelle, Battlefield for Jordin Sparks, and then the song Sweet Dreams for Beyoncé taken from her Grammy Award winning album I Am…Sasha Fierce. He then achieved further UK Number 1 single success with Cheryl Cole and her platinum selling single Fight For This Love.
