A product of Atlanta, but who grew up in Europe due to his father’s military life, Garrett was signed as an artist at just 17 years old. Moving in the circles of Ludacris, Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj, Garrett gradually emerged from being an artist and singer into a songwriter and record producer. At the turn of the millennium he then managed to create an amazing and record breaking run of songs, creating 18 Number 1 singles, ensuring that he is mentioned alongside the greatest producers at delivering that many hits in such a short space of time. His work has continued apace, teaming up with Swizz Beatz to produce excellent work including smash songs for Beyoncé. Garrett has received 4 Grammy nominations for his work on Beyoncé’s I Am…Sasha Fierce Album and also with Usher for the Yeah! single (which was the 2nd best selling single on the Billboard Hot 100 songs for 2000-2009) and also for Usher’s Confessions album.
