During the mid 90’s Rodney Jerkins was learning his studio craft alongside his brother Fred in a gospel rap collaboration, as well as with a collection of other strong vocalists and in 1994 his Darkchild alias was conceived. However, his skills really took shape during the making of Mary J Blige’s Share My World album, which contained 5 songs from Jerkins, as well as the most inspiring run of hit making, which ranged from Grammy Award winning Whitney Houston’s It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay to Grammy Award winning and best selling US single of the year for Brandy & Monica’s The Boy Is Mine and to double Grammy award winning Destiny’s Child’s Say My Name. More hit records for Jennifer Lopez, the Spice Girls, Justin Bieber, Arianne Grande, Maroon 5 and Lady Gaga and so many more have followed. Jerkins continues to expand his skills from helping create the Empire Cast recordings to great new work with fresh artists like H.E.R. Rodney helps talent, makes talent and he shapes talent, in a league all of his own.
