Khayat was born in Morocco, but he moved to Sweden as a teenager due to his love of great pop music. Although he started out playing in bands, under the tutelage of his producer friend Rami Yacoub he moved more into production developing various Swedish and European pop acts like Popsie, A*Teens, Daniel Lindstrom, Darin Zanyar and Chipz.
He relocated to the States in 2007 and some opportunities arose at Epic Records on Kat Deluna and Jennifer Lopez records, which helped open more doors for him and let him into the relationship with Lady Gaga which resulted in Khayat writing era defining songs such as Poker Face, Just Dance and Bad Romance. This relationship resulted in 8 Grammy nominations and two wins, one for Best Pop Vocal Album for The Fame Monster album and the second for Poker Face and Best Dance Recording.
Alongside setting up his own 2101 label, and his own solo output, he continued having hits with his own artist Mohombi, but also continued to deliver global hit records for Marc Anthony, Alvaro Soler, Jason Derulo, Enrique Iglesias, Khaled, Pitbull, Usher, Jennifer Lopez and the enormously successful Pound The Alarm and Starships by Nicki Minaj.
