Al Jackson Jr. set the standard for soul drumming, prompting his nick name ‘The Human Timekeeper’. He was a founding member of Booker T + The MG’s, the house band for Stax Records out of Memphis, Tennesse. He played drums on recordings by such legends as Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd and Sam & Dave. His work alongside soul superstar Al Green, and as a co-writer, led to the career defining hits Let’s Stay Together and I’m Still In Love With You. He made contributions to work by Elvis Presley, Rod Stewart, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eric Clapton and Aretha Franklin.
