John Spinks started his music career in the east end of London under the name Baseball Boys with friends Tony Lewis (vox/bass) and Alan Jackman (drums). They changed their name to The Outfield and delivered their debut album Play Deep in 1985, which included the two enormous songs Your Love and All The Love In The World. These songs worked superbly for mid 80’s radio, both in Europe and in the US, where they reached the Billboard Top 20. The band toured extensively, opening for both Journey and Starship.
Although the follow up album did not surpass their debut, it was more flawless pop music with Lewis’s impassioned vocal with song such as Since You’ve Been Gone. Follow up songs like For You worked well for them and Winning It All found its place at many sporting events as well as on the soundtrack of The Mighty Ducks.
